We are often asked who was, or what was Metis?
Metis is one of the Greek Titans of mythology; husband and adviser of Zeus, and mother of Athena. She is the Goddess of wisdom and deep thought.
As is often the case with Greek Mythology and the Titans, the story is violent. She helped Zeus to free his siblings from their father Cronus’ stomach by giving him an emetic and, when she was swallowed by Zeus after it was foretold that she would bear a son mightier than his father, helped their daughter Athena to escape from his forehead.
